Dino
Bramanti was born in 1969 in Pietrasanta (Lucca), Italy.
His cultural background is both based on a classical
humanistic education and on mathematical and technical
studies.
In 1996 took PhD in Telecommunications Engineering at
the University of Pisa in Italy, achieving a strong training
in digital signal processing, computer science and communications
networks and protocols.
During 90's he's been working as DJ in several clubs
and radio stations spinning great black music and started
moving towards electronic sound composition, digital
signal manipulation and sample grinding.
His main interest in the area of digital art is related
to sound installations, sculptures and mechanisms where
natural sounds are generated, evolve over time by microvariations
and interplay with real time samples manipulated in
time and frequency domain.
Together with A. Borghi is the author of "quaa|ude
- a quiet interlude" installation and sound generator,
which has been premiered in October 2002 at "c'Arte
d'identita' " art gallery in Pietrasanta (LU).
As a member of Timet collective (www.timet.org) has
taken part in several projects contributing with concepts,
sound composition, audio and electronics engineering.
Latest involvement with Timet has been with "L'Ospite
Ingrato - A Medici Obsession" sound installation
in Florence, Forte Belvedere, July-October 2003, which
is part of "ORIZZONTI- Belvedere dell' Arte" Art
Exibition directed by A. Bonito Oliva (cat. Skirà editions).
Current work is focused on the concept of composition/improvisation
applied to live performance for laptops and custom
made music software.
He's currently sharing his time between digital art
works and the work as optical and photonics networks
designer for telecommunications industry.
All the software he uses in his works and performances
is entirely designed, programmed and implemented by
himself in MaxMSP, superCollider and Csound development
environment.
